There is Hope... we found it for our son

by Valerie
(Acworth, GA)

Our son is 8 now and is doing amazingly well with his SPD and we thank our Naturopathic Dr! It has been like witnessing a miracle! I knew something wasn't "right" at the age of 2 1/2 when we started having problems with socks and shoes. And then our son started telling me that his clothes hurt him.

When he was 3, we would spend an hour in the car trying to get him out of his pjs to go into preschool. We thought if we got him there it might get his mind off of his clothes and it would just be easier. It got worse. He wore the same clothes everyday for about 6mths and I started having to sew his little pants up b/c they were getting so ragged. Our son couldn't sleep on his bed b/c of the sheets, couldn't hold his toothbrush or silverware b/c of the feeling. We couldn't touch his hair; for several yrs, most of the time, we couldn't even hug our own child. This is devastating to a parent. Our son would be in a rage sometimes 24/7.

We started doing OT and doing the brushing and everything; his OT did help, but it wasn't until God led us to our Naturopathic Dr. that my son has been seeing now for about 4 yrs. She has given us our son back b/c he even had a hollow/blank look in his eyes for so long. She started by detoxing him of all metals, vaccines (and I'm not against vaccines, but I think some kid's nervous systems can't handle them and other medicines and toxins)and other toxins. After the 1st visit and using the homeopathics (we call yum yums) it was like we flipped a switch. Our son is having his best year ever in school this year (3rd grade).

We have continued to see our Naturopathic Dr every mth or 2. It's amazing; if he has a set back, she usually finds high levels of an environmental toxin (it could be pesticides or anything) in his system and has to detox him and then he's fine again. He has been racing BMX now for 2yrs and with that sport you have a lot of equipment and a uniform to wear. He's fine with it. Our son was also diagnosed with a mild learning disorder which alot of times goes hand in hand with SPD. He has improved tremendously with that as well. There is so much more I could share, but natural medicines has almost cured our son and his SPD has been severe. Our dr specializes in Autism and SPD and ADHD. I highly recommend a great Naturopathic Dr. It has worked miracles for our son!!!

Sending hope to everyone out there!!! Blessings!

Which naturopath dr did you use.
by: SR

My poor daughter has the same issues.
Life is unbearable. Really severe tactile defensiveness. She is nine and we have had this since she was 3.

We have tried 2 naturopaths with little success. Needless the say the mainstream doctors have not helped at all.

Which naturopath did you use?
I'm in Australia, but hopefully with Skype these days...

Updating on sensory journey
by: mercurybabies

I posted back in 2013 about our struggle with my child's sensory processing issue. I wanted to update and hopefully give hope to others. We have gotten a lot of improvement through several modalities. (homeopathy, custom flower essence, The Listening Program). Being gluten free may have also helped somewhat but at this time I can't really confirm for sure because he can still have sensory flare ups on the diet. We are also doing frequent dose chelation for his heavy metal toxicity which I feel contributed to his developing sensory. We began that at age 3 and it did help a lot of his symptoms. So today we are only left with a few, one of which is sensitivity to paper but this comes and goes. He also still doesn't like his hair washes or water getting into his ears/eyes. However, the rest of his original sensory symptom are either gone or barely noticeable.

More info pn neuropatic dr
by: Anonymous

Hi Valery, thanks for sharing your success story! My 9 yr old son was diagnosed with SID when he was 4. We have done OT, behavioral therapy, neurofeedback and even psych medication. Unfortunately he seems to be getting worse. Our psychiatrist recommended a hair mineral trace and food intollerance test and gave un about 8 different supplements (along with the psychiatric meds he was taking) and it was a nightmare. He became like a whole different person. We are currently giving him magnesium and still in a couple psych meds. His tactile defensiveness is terrible. No UW will fit, he hates socks and shoes, loose fit worn out pants, etc. I am dreading going back to school because he has no shoes or clothes that fit. This is stressful and exhausting for all of us.

When I read your post I did some research and fount the neuropatic dr association of VA. Found two that are in my area but before calling I wanted to ask you exactly what type hour dr is.... Any details I should be looking for?

Thanks for your help!!!

gives us hope too
by: Mercury Babies

I've been searching for 10 years for help for my son's sensory. His tactile is so bad now that he refuses most foods, doesn't eat much, can't stand to brush his teeth, change his clothes...well you know. We've tried so much and nothing really seems to help. We did initially get improvements with detoxification for heavy metals from his vaccines. It was even worse when he was 3, he wouldn't wear any clothing at all, just a diaper. So after some detoxification he wears clothes, and tolerates more than he used too. But we still have a long way to go. We have seen two homeopath's with no success but I don't think they've found the right remedy.

I wish I could contact you privately to learn more/share. If you can please contact me by searching for Mercury Babies on Facebook, I'd love to touch base on your experience with the naturopath.

Thank God for Dr. Janine
by: Camden's Mawmaw

Camden is my grandson. I thank God everyday for Valerie, my daughter-in-law, and how much time and energy she put forth in finding help for our precious Camden. We are so thankful God led her to Dr. Janine. We tell others what a difference she has made in our lives, by helping Camden, in hopes that they too will let her help them.
