Therapy

Hiw long will my child be in therapy? Is it lifelong? My insurance doesn't cover it and I'm totally stressed. My daughters diagnosis came three days ago and we've already spent 600.00. I dont mean to sound like I don't love my daughter because I'm talking about money but I don't know how we can do it all

You didnt metion how old your child was. If in school or preschool they can help too. The school might want to test her too, let them. They can give her OT and free counseling. A lot of what needs to be done comes from you and cost no money. Just time. Rub her head, back or whole body. Depends on what her likes are. Work with her on texture. Getting yourself educated is the best way to help your daughter and yourself.

hi, depending on the type of SPD - you can learn alot from the therapist to do at home - usually called a sensory diet(activities) there are also 2 books - that are great - 'The Out-of-Sync Child: Recognizing and Coping with Sensory Processing Disorder' and an activity book The Out-of-Sync Child Has Fun, Activities for Kids with Sensory Processing Disorder author is carol kranowitz - so much can be done at home and as you get more familiar you can lessen the outside therapies. good luck
