SPD genetic?

My husband has a child from a previous relationship who has been diagnosed with SPD. We have an almost 3 year old together and I'm wondering if I'm suppose to get him tested ?
Our son has extremely sensitive ears, not wanting me to vacuum, dislikes loud cars etc. He is also sensitive to different food textures. I'm not sure if the food thing is a normal toddler thing or if it may be something related to a SPD.
