Painting with food

My 3 year old son has sensory processing disorder and recently our occupational suggested painting with food. She said we should get pudding, yogurt, processed carrots etc and use it as 'paint' to get him used to at least handling the different foods.

Yes, painting with foods is an excellent way for sensory of smell, taste, texture, and feel. Pudding, try koolaid in a package mix in a bowl with water (great watercolor painting) when it dries it smell wonderful.

Try making playdoh and adding a food scent ( almond, peppermint, etc. Smell / feel is great for fine motor skills and the texture of playdoh is wonderful for tactile defensiveness.

Have fun with the activities.
The eating of the activities can be like an explorer except playdoh. I just remembered that you can make peanut butter playdoh. Look up on computer for edible playdoh and make it with your son. Good luck.
