my now 8year old son screamed when it was time for nails to be cut, hated being swung around especially upside down, and detested hair cuts, would scream the barbours out. Limited proprioception was diagnosed in primary one by o.t. He hates sudden loud noise and also smells are hurrendous he doesnt like
being touched when he doesnt know its coming. Soft touch he explains feels like someone hitting or punching him. Over the last 12 months he has problems with taste, before he would eat anything now everything has to be bland.
He enjoys a squeeze at night before bed ie; wrap quilt around him and lie on top of him, he says it relaxes his whole body. we have tried weighted blankets, end up on floor, weighted tops, doesnt like, got the football tight tops for under football strips, loves it feels secure.
I have worked out that no one knows your child as well as you. Find out as much as you can about sensory issues and pick out what applies to you. You do not have to spend a fortune either. Adapt and use your imagination. Thinking in picture by Temple Grandin explained alot. One of those books you have to keep with. Excellent.
