Lorenzo is a 3yr old, bright, funny and loving little boy. At Birth he had a stroke which caused seizures. I prayed over my child for him to be healthy happy and safe. Never did I think two yrs later he would start having issues. When Lorenzo turned two he started acting out, Fighting and kicking other kids. I thought he was going through terrible two's. He got kicked out of that daycare , After he went to the second daycare he started doing the same thing plus more. He was climb on the tables and cots, He hit the teacher in the face. ETC.. At that point I was stressed to the max and cried so much.He got kicked out of that daycare as well!!!

I took him to a behavioral therapist where they gave him an OT evaul . Thats the day I found out my son had SPD. When I was first told that I was confused and angry. I wondered why my son!! He's already been through so much.. I'm still new to learning about SPD and I purchased a book called raising a sensory smart child . It's a good book!! As I continue to educate myself I try to educated my son teacher about this disorder. It's hard to take him places but I'm starting to get the hang of it. It feels good to have some where to go where you can talk to someone and they will understand .

Thank you so much !! The doctors claim they don't know what caused the stroke .. I believe it was their fault. While trying to deliver my son his heart rate kept dropping . They tried forceps , Vacuum and tried to position him a different way . They had to do an emergency c-section. Of course when u have a stroke oxygen doesn't get to a certain part of the brain .. So I believe they took too long to deliver him and that caused the stroke . They will never admit that , Even though the doctor was crying!!!!With Lorenzo as far as pain he cries when he hurts himself it's more of temperature. He can tell the difference between hot and cold . He's not able to tell the difference with the weather. When it's 80 degrees outside he's wearing a jacket on zipped all the way up and he's sweating . He won't take the jacket off for nothing . I would love to talk with you . My email address is cckitty2003@yahoo.com . I will be emailing you .

My son, Jordan also suffered a stroke at birth. At 3 months we started to notice he wasn't a normal little boy. He would pull chunks of hair out of his head and never cry. Everyone looked at me like I was crazy when I told him and I couldn't get any answers. When JT turned 2, he slipped and fell and tore the cartridge in his nose. He never uttered a peep. As we sat at the hospital a nurse came by and offered the suggestion that we look online because it was not normal not to cry at pain. That is when heard about SPD. Since then they have tested him and have found that it is SPD. It is a really challenging thing to accept and we are still struggling at day cares. They just dont understand him. Did they find out what caused your son's stroke? I would love to talk to you about it or anyone else who has had similar experience and how you are coping. my email is jandnshephard@hotmail.com.

Good luck to you and God Bless.
