I don't know what to do as a parent

My son, Thomas, is 2 years 10 months and has been attending long day care for 6 mths. After a difficult beginning the childcare teacher felt that he had settled well.
Lately though, he has been causing concern and seems to be constantly receiving negative attention from the teacher. The teacher says that Thomas is throwing tantrums when he doesn't get his own way (throwing himself on the floor and screaming), and is pushing and hitting the other children. He doesn't seem to be using words to make his needs known, and yet they are sure he used to have a growing vocabulary. They say he is easily distracted from activities and is starting to wander aimlessly. He will grab other childrens toys and causes conflict. He will play with the small toy cars but hits any child who might be sitting near him.
I am a very busy person , I noticed my son have some change but not sure he is just going through a phase. Can you tell me what can I do in this case and how I can tell the teacher to plan any activities to him and help him?
