Extracurricular activities

My 8 year old second grade son has sensory processing disorder and cannot keep focused in team or repetitive sports such as swim, soccer or baseball. Are their any activities or sports that children with processing disorders can succeed at?

My son's psychologist suggested "Fencing".
My son has not started yet, but hopefully he will stick with it.
He did do gymnastics for a season and did very well with it. But once it became a little more to do with physical strength, he said he was bored.

I have put my sons in Tae Kwon Do. They list it in the book Out-of-Sync Child. They seem to like it and with a good and understanding teacher, helps them stay focused.

Depending on their sensitivities some that are recommended are gymnastics and horseback riding. They get really good deep pressure input with those.

My name is Ruth Alonso (Madrid, Spain), I also have a 5 year old kid with sensory processing disorder. Our therapist recommended us individual sports. Judo is very good for kids with this type of disorder, also, tennis, Sky...

Hope this helps!
