Eating, drinking, breathing, talking, laughing tooooo loud!

by Meaghan Wicks

Hello I have a seriously hard time with other peoples eating, drinking, breathing etc. I have to wear ear plugs constantly throughout the day in order for me not to lose it. This even includes having to wear ear plugs around my office, and my family and friends. I hate that I have to but it makes me feel so much better not to have to deal with those sounds. My mom always thought that I just had sensitive hearing but now I have found this website and I think it might be a sensory processing disorder.

Please help! :)

Thank you!

Your not alone... check out this thread submitted by the readers of Sensory-Processing-Disorder.com Sensitive to particular noises. Sounds like (get it?... sounds like? lol) a classic case of Auditory Overresponsivity. I know exactly what you are going through because I have the same thing. Noises that bother me are lawn mowing, car doors slamming, people talking in the background etc.

The only thing that has worked for me is to have some "white noise" to drown out the other offending noises. A white noise like a fan running, TV or radio going in the background or a sound machine with a stream sound running to drown out background noise while trying to sleep.
