Does a child ever adjust and live independently

Does a person ever adjust with SPD or is this a life long handicap? I believe my 3 yo has SPF but the dr just sent me to a regular therapist. Haven't made an appt yet bc I thought we should see an OT for diagnosis.

I had a similar experience with my pediatrician. So I kept a list for 3 months & when I showed it to the Dr. & asked for an ot, she agreed. Our ot has taught me how to help my son with his spd & we have seen major improvements. The younger they are when they get help the easier it to change their behavior & routines. Check out spd foundation..

We adjust, yes. Does it go away, no? Does it screw up our lives and does that mean we can't live by ourselves someday or grow up and have a family and a successful career? No. No worries. They will be fine in the long run. They may have to do some things differently, they mave have discomforts others have they may need to learn diffrently, or whatever else, but all in all, most of all of us turn out okay. So I guess my response is, yes, we can.
