Disruptive Noises

I am looking for treatment ideas for a 3rd grader with SPD that is making disruptive noises in the classroom multiple times a day. His previous strategy of chewing gum is no longer deterring the behavior.

Have you tried playing music? Perhaps through head phones? Or sound protection over the ears whilst he chews the gum so he can really hear it squirming in his mouth?
