My son, age 8 has SPD. Diagnosed at 7 after years of wondering why he was such an unusual and quirky child and why he had behavior problems in school. Now the more I learn about him the more I recognize a lot of the things he has in me. We both are very over sensitized by external noises. I have always been. He is easily put into auditory overload as I have just adapted over time. But if I hear a cricket outside and down the street I can't fall asleep. my don struggles every day in school and at home and in public, but he has improved with age. At least we go through this together and learn together.
