24 w/ Auditory Processing Disorder HELP

Yes, I'm Hannah & I'm 24 years old and I've always gotten really irritated with small noises other people claim they can't even hear.... I have trouble concentrating when taking a test ... when reading ... I can't stand it ... it's like nails on a chalk board but yet it's just someone chewing...




I can't be in the same room with someone while they are eating! It's seriously effecting my life ... I've been seeing a psychiatrist for it ... I'm on plenty of anxiety/depression medicine to help with irritability ... He says it may not be fixable my medication ... yet another doctor suggested I might have ADD but my psychiatrist doesn't want to put me on it until my mood "stabilizes"

People do not like to be around me and I can't even watch TV with my family because they drive me up the wall with all their sounds....
HELP!! How do I cope?

I find that a 'white noise' app on my phone helps me to drown out the world when it all gets too much.

I have a function coming up that involves a large amount of people including young children and infants. I honestly dont know how to help my daughter get through this. Shes old enough to make her own decision but she feels if she doesnt attend she'll be missing out. I naturally want her to be there with us.I dont want her to be uncomfortable. She is autistic 34yrs old and lives independently. can you give me any advice.

im 16, and i have the exact same problems, i wish it would go away, my family thinks its crazy and they dont believe that the disorders real. if i want the fan on they wont let me. i wish they would respect it and understand. i have to have the fan on in evey room. the sound of the fan calms me. but yeah i need help on this disorder.

hi, my son had the same probs, oversensitive hearing. Look this up, and tomatis programe, helps alot, doesnt cure it but makes alot better. Good luck.Oversensitive hearing. Depends where you live. Listening therapy.
