18 year old son self talk
by Kaye

Hi,
My 18 year old son has Aspergers. For the last four years he has constantly repeated sentences, phrases, entire conversations- verbatim. It's like a recording. He does this for hour after hour, particularly when stressed. He is very bright, but this has to be exhausting- it's unbearable on the outside; I can't imagine how exhausting it must be for him. Medical advice was that it was unlikely to be Tourettes as "tourettes rarely involves whole sentences" and that it may be OCD.
He is also compelled to "blurt out" private information and anything he is trying to suppress.
