Daughter hates brushing technique - any other effective methods?

Hello, Our 5 year old daughter seems to have SPD mostly with tactile defensiveness (clothing issues) but also has a big issue with feeling too hot or not enough "cool air" on her skin and has problems with food as well.

Her issues seem to get worse in the fall when the weather changes. Last year at around the same time when her issues got to the point we realized something wasn't right and saw an OT.

The OT recommended the brushing protocol which we did and which helped her greatly. We didn't have that many issues until just now. However, our daughter now says that the brushing makes it worse and cannot stand it - so it is no longer an option for us. We saved up to see the OT another time and she didn't have any other suggestions than the brushing or that my daughter try to brush herself which was a disaster.

I've tried searching for what other methods that are as effective as the brushing but can not find anything. We try to take her to the park, when she can get dressed.

Does anybody have any suggestions? We are at our wits' end and she is definitely also more anxious and explosive when she experiences these issues. We can not afford to see the OT anymore as well, although she didn't have any other suggestions than the brushing so I don't know that it would help.

The brushing protocol works for under responders, stimulating senses. Your daughter sounds like an over responder and the brushing probably increases her overstimulation. I am an under responder, so I don't know what techniques would work. Ask an OT.

I forgot to add that I also try to massage her or squeeze her legs, arms for deep pressure but it doesn't seem to work or she says it hurts. Thanks again.
